The program begins in Beijing to provide exposure to China's policy, institutional, and macroeconomic environment before transitioning to company-based internships in Shanghai.

Week 2-4: Professional Internship in Shanghai

A typical week balances real workplace responsibilities with targeted language support—designed to reflect how professionals actually work in China.

A Week in the Program*

Monday — Team Check-in & Weekly Task Planning

  • Align with your supervisor and team on goals, priorities, and project timelines

  • Begin hands-on project work

Tuesday— Task-focused Language Training

  • Practice Chinese used in meetings, emails, and daily workplace communication

  • Apply new language skills directly to ongoing project tasks

Wednesday— Progress Review & Language Coaching

  • Share mid-week updates and address communication challenges

  • Continue project work, research, or field tasks

Thursday— Advanced Workplace Communication

  • Develop skills for presenting ideas and handling real-world work scenarios

  • Take on greater responsibility within your internship role

Friday— Progress Sharing & Professional Networking

  • Present weekly progress and receive feedback from supervisors

  • Participate in networking or team-building activities

Please Note:

Each participant's actual schedule may vary depending on their employer's requirements and specific tasks. On average, participants engage in on-site internship work two to three days per week (which may include remote or hybrid formats). Outside of on-site hours, time is structured around completing internship-related tasks, strengthening workplace communication skills through language training, and participating in guided cultural and city-based learning activities. This flexible structure ensures you gain valuable professional experience while maintaining time for cultural immersion and personal exploration.
